ABOUT LARRABEE

The name is simple. For over 20 years, I’ve had an apartment that I called home on Larrabee Street in West Hollywood, California. So, Larrabee was the top choice when it came time to choose an interesting & unique name that felt like home to me.

Now the story of how it became Larrabee, a handmade candle & soap company… that’s been an idea percolating for years:

1980s - I’m a kid growing up in suburban New Jersey, and there’s a Nabisco cookie factory that pumps an amazing scent into the air each time it makes a batch of their signature cookies.

1990s - I move to Los Angeles and get an apartment on Larrabee Street. This becomes my home.

2000s - I spend this decade beginning my career as a story producer in a new genre called reality television.

2009 - I take a candle class in Los Angeles, but before I get to even use the candle supplies I purchase at the class, my TV career takes me to DC, NYC, & Austin, TX.

2017 - While in Austin, I become disillusioned with my career in reality television. I quit my job, and I take another candle making class.

2018 - I return home to Los Angeles and while cleaning out my home on Larrabee St, I re-discover the candle supplies. So, I finally make a batch of my own candles using the scent I chose 9 years before… they smell like baking cookies.

2019 - I find myself making candles as a way to reduce my anxiety and from the stress of figuring out my next career… and then Covid hits.

2021 - I create LARRABEE LLC to officially start Larrabee as my handcrafted home fragrance company.

2024 - I get to focus my energy on my mental health and  growing my company, Larrabee.
